Circles Practices?

Circle practices are a different approach to structuring and developing an inclusive environment that shifts the way we interact and learn together. Story is at the heart of Circle. We want to give people the space and confidence to share their stories, hear the stories of others and so develop a community of belonging and learning. How do we do that? We look back. To when peoples related in a different way; to when people lived closer to the earth; closer to each other; when they knew that it is each other we need – to gathering in Circles.

Why Now?

There has never been more need for ways to support the social emotional development of our children as well as the need to create better communication and listening skills in every area of life. Post pandemic research around disadvantage gaps and steep rises in concerns for the mental health and wellbeing of our young people are growing. Nationally, moves towards oracy as a vehicle for change and social justice are gathering momentum which is good news indeed and everyone needs to rise to meet this challenging and changing climate. Supporting social emotional skills at the heart of our communities, schools and work places, we know, also improves performance. Circles connect both the ‘head’ and ‘heart’ together and creates connected communities.
